FIRST A LITTLE WORD ABOUT DIGITAL IMAGES
Understandably, Digital Images are by far my best sellers nowadays. Great for sharing on social media and in emails etc – but getting them printed yourself can be a bit of a nightmare!! The images I supply you are high resolution, fully edited and colour corrected on my calibrated monitor to my pro lab’s specifications. They are also cropped to a specific size ratio which won’t always work well if you want to get them printed in a different size(please see information on CROPPING below). Sadly, in life, all things are not created equal, and this is certainly the case where the printing of photographs is concerned! I wrote this blog post (which believe me comes straight from the heart!!) I would ask you please to read it before you purchase your photographs digitally DIGITAL IMAGES - A PHOTOGRAPHER'S DILEMMA Because of these issues, I now offer print/digital bundles so you can have your set of pictures professionally printed as 7x5s alongside your digital images at a very good price.

Rectangular images have been cropped to 7x5 ratio – so if you are having them printed as, for instance, 10x8s or 12x10’s it is possible that some of the picture will be cropped away. If you know this may be likely when you order your digital images please tell me and I will recrop accordingly to the size you intend to have them printed. This is especially important if you are thinking in terms of getting a large wall display item printed yourself. Only one crop size per image will be included, however some crops will print seamlessly in other size ratios. If you are unsure at all please check with me before you order your images.
Another thing to consider when buying digitally is that some of the high street print shops don’t offer square or panoramic print sizes so any square ones you have chosen you may have to get printed online – Photobox.co.uk have a good range of print sizes, including squares and panoramics. If you would like any of the square images to be recropped to rectangular versions please let me know when you order otherwise they will be supplied as square.
It is very important to understand that your digital images will be the adjusted ones exactly as viewed in your portfolios, and not the original files. The photos on your disc will be high resolution and watermark free and you are able to use them for online sharing or to get prints, although the copyright remains that of Romsey Fotografix, and I ask that you please do not add filters or effects to them without my express permission.
I don’t want to bore you rigid with the complexities of file resolutions, pixels and dpi etc, which is a complex subject and, not surprisingly, often greatly misunderstood, but suffice to say, your digital images will be suitable to have printed as larger sizes, they are exactly as I would use to process my print orders and wall display items etc. Again, it is worth bearing in mind that the labs I use are pro ones and take care to produce higher quality results than might be the case using normal retail outlets.

CAN I ORDER MY WHOLE PORTFOLIO DIGITALLY?
Lots of folk ask me this which I do appreciate would save much headache choosing! Unfortunately though, the final thorough edit on a whole portfolio takes a massive amount of time, so for this reason I am unable to offer any special rates on a whole portfolio. Therefore the maximum digital image special deal is for 50 digital images, with any extra images over and above 50 at £5 each, which is the per image rate only when you buy the special 50 deal. Therefore if your portfolio has, for example, 100 images, the cost would be £330 for the special 50 deal, plus £5 each for the remaining 50 i.e. £330 plus £250 making a total of £580. Good news though - a really cool and cost effective alternative is a Fotoshows!

SO WHAT IS A FOTOSHOW?
Basically a slideshow of your whole portfolio set to music - they have been known to bring a tear to the eye!! They're a great keepsake that you can watch on your DVD player and/or mobile devices whenever you so wish. Of course your Fotoshow is purely to look at, enjoy, share on social media and of course keep as a memento of your whole photoshoot.
YOU CAN VIEW A SAMPLE HERE Fotoshow
Generally Fotoshows are between 6 and 10 minutes long depending on the number of pictures in your portfolio.

Fotoshow prices are as follows:

IMPORTANT NOTE THOUGH … THE SLIDESHOW IS FOR YOUR VIEWING ENJOYMENT AND KEEPSAKE. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO PRINT OR DOWNLOAD THE INDIVIDUAL IMAGES FROM THE SLIDESHOW; IN ORDER TO DO THIS YOU WOULD NEED TO CHOOSE THE DIGITAL IMAGE OPTIONS.

HOW DO THE DIFFERENT CROP RATIOS VARY?
Here's a handy chart which shows the variations:

Initially, I crop all the rectangular ones to ratios of 7x5s. I may have include some images as squares or panoramics too if I feel an image suits it. Please choose one of the square/panoramic size options if an image is named as SQUARE or PANORAMIC. If you order one which has been cropped to a square or panoramic in a rectangular size, I will take that to mean you would like it recropped to the rectangular size you have ordered – but please bear in mind it will look different to the square version in your portfolio.

HOW DO COLOURS VARY?
The colours in your pictures will almost certainly look different on the device on which you are viewing them, to how they look on my screen, as monitors and mobile devices vary considerably. My monitor is calibrated for the labs I use for your prints and wall display items to ensure I get the best possible colour output when using my suppliers.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MATT (LUSTRE) AND GLOSS PRINTS?
Matt (lustre) prints still seem to have the edge in popularity and certainly work better behind glass, particularly if the print will be directly touching the glass and is not behind a mount. Lustre prints also work well for bleach and black and white prints.
For me, I love the vibrancy of gloss prints - the colours tend to print slightly brighter in a lot of cases.
But it really just comes down to personal preference.

DO MY PRINTS COME IN MOUNTS?
The following rectangular print sizes will be delivered to you in mounts:
7x5"
8x6"
10x8"
12x8"
12x10"
The following square sizes will be delivered to you in folders:
5x5"
8x8"

As it is not possible to get mounts and folders in the other sizes, any not listed will be supplied without.

CAN YOU GET MY PRINTS FRAMED FOR ME?
Yes of course if you so wish, I can get custom frames made. There are a myriad of options for frame styles etc. Here's a link to my framer's website so you can see the different ones and mount colours etc. They are able to produce custom frames so let me know what you have in mind and preferred frame style and I will get a quotation for you and send you a "mockup" diagram so you can see what it would look like with your image(s)
However, for standard size frames, places like Ikea, The Range and Hobbycraft have so many lovely ones to choose from, I usually recommend you try those first as you may get just what you want of the shelf at great value.

VIEWING AND SHARING YOUR GALLERY

How do I view the photos in my gallery?
You can click on any image to enlarge and then scroll through the photos using the arrow keys. There is also an option to view as a slideshow.

How do I make a shortlist folder of my favourites?
Just click the star button beneath your favourite images and it will be added to your favourites folder in your Gallery. You will be asked to enter your email in order to do this.

Can I share my gallery with my friends and relatives?
By all means. You can either forward the main email you receive to view your gallery, or you’ll have the option to share your favourites folder with them once you have created it.

How long will I be able to access my gallery?
Your gallery will expire on the date stated in the email you receive which is generally 21 days or so. Hopefully will allow you plenty of time to choose. It will be removed after this time or shortly after. As a thank you for your prompt order by the date advised, any orders received during this time will qualify for a 10% discount which will automatically be deducted at check out.

Can my gallery be online for longer?
The gallery space is at a premium so I have to delete galleries on a regular basis to allow enough room to upload new ones. This in turn helps to keep my prices down. So I may not be able to extend the time your portfolio is online but you are welcome to make an appointment to view your photos in the studio at a later date and order at the usual prices.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I PLACE AN ORDER AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Once I have received your order I’ll be in touch by email to advise what happens next and estimated delivery times. I do try and process orders as quickly as possible and aim to get everything ready for you within a couple of weeks. If you have an especially urgent requirement I will of course give this priority.

I put my print orders through in batches every few days, so your prints will reach me in a week or two depending on when the next batch goes in after you place your order.

For photobook orders I’ll email you a proof of the artwork before it goes to print. Please allow me up to a week to produce the artwork but I’ll of course give it priority if needed urgently. Once approved, your book will arrive usually within about two weeks.

Digital image orders are by far the most popular – and believe it or not, the most time consuming as the final edit I do on them is very thorough and fiddly. Therefore to keep it fair for all, I’ll send you a Download link and add your images to that in batches as and when I get the final thorough edit done of them. This ensures that you all get any urgent ones first, and no one has to wait too long for each batch.

Canvas wraps usually arrive within a week or so; frames and other wall display items may take 2-3 weeks.

DO I NEED TO COLLECT MY ORDER?
Generally not, if you are reasonably local we will deliver to you free of charge - usually during the evening or at a weekend. Collections are available by prior arrangement. Should it be necessary to post items, as in the case where perhaps friends and relatives you have forwarded your gallery to have ordered and live further away, I may need to charge postage and packing, depending on the size of the order.

CAN I ORDER MY PHOTOS AT A LATER DATE?
I will do everything possible to keep your photos backed up and safe so please feel free to contact me if you wish to reorder any later on. However as we all know, technology can let us down sometimes so if there are any pictures you especially love, I recommend ordering them as soon as you can, just in case!
